Sometimes you may think that you're going insane
But the world is a difficult thing to explain
It's a fire riding a line of gas
Engulfing itself and all in its path
And the innocent gardens are sucked into flames,
The flowers which lived for their colorful fame
But what is the earth without its Sun
What is a bullet without its gun
An ore of metal in the dirt,
The dirt from the earth which had no Sun,
To lull its children, the trees, to sleep
So now they wither and wilt and weep
The Sun is a fire that gives life to the earth,
The earth that we walk with our solid feet,
The feet of the bodies with souls to meet
The Son of God on the day they die
And God himself with a tear in his eye
Crying, "Where have you been all this time, My Son,
I have you now and We are one."
...
But you were the brother of that man
Or the wife who lived just to hold his hand
So you cry, not knowing that he's alive
In the arms of Jesus, that Gentle Lamb,
Who shamed himself on that broken tree
To prove his love and set souls free,
So that they can fly through his lovelocked gate
And to push us from sin into which we fall
Like an addiction with no escape
So they call you the devil's adversary
They say your behavior's unnecessary
And you hear your children scream bloody murder
Straight from the beds in which they lie
And you pull them out from under the covers,
And rock them to sleep so that they won't cry
And as they grow older from day to day
Tell them they're perfect in every way
For if you don't, they'll cry at night,
Wondering why they were dealt this life
Searching for someone to fill the void,
That void you left when you walked away,
Away from the beautiful things in life
Like the birds and the sea and the air and the sky
The sky which has always been home to the Sun
The Sun that gives life to all growing things
And all the bad things, just push them away
So far away you can see them no more
For if you befriend them, your life will become
A pointless place like the earth with no Sun
